Not us webmasters of course but when are 'normal' people taking time off this year, especially in Europe and US.

Are they taking time off before Xmas day or do most people start their hols Xmas eve? Are they starting work 10 Jan or before?

Just looking for an idea when most people (non webmasters) are taking time off this festive season.

In the US, schools normally let out during the week prior to xmas and return the first school day after Jan 1.

Places of business vary. Some may close for xmas eve through new year's day, while other close part day xmas eve, full day xmas day and half day new year's eve and full day new year's day.

Retail operations, such as a store, may stay open through all those times or be closed only on the holiday day.

In Canada, Christmas and Boxing Day falls on a weekend, so Monday and Tuesday the 27th and 28th is a holiday also. New Years is on a Saturday so Jan 3 is a holiday.

Unless you are in retail, healthcare or emergency service, or the service industry, practically everybody disappears by noon on the 24th, and won't be seen again until the 4 of January, as most people take leave on the 29,30 and 31st. Getting 12 days off in a row at a cost of three vacation days, is too good of a deal to pass up.

In most Canadian schools, holiday break starts this Monday.

Remember that a lot of the Spanish speaking world celebrates "three kings" on the 6th... Spanish holidays tend to be from around the 21 / 22 to the 7/8 (longer depending on the weekend).
