Multi User Data System

Over the last four years we have been developing MUDS (Multi User Data System) that allows multiple users to input and extract information from within their own web sites, but linked to a central system containing the data.
Based on an old philosophy "A lot of people doing a little each, creates a large amount" (in our case a small number of entries each creates a large amount of data or content) .
This system can be used in many different ways and for many different uses over the Internet. One of the uses could be a Dynamic Nationwide or even World Wide Events Calendar that works on Category and Location.. This would allow people to have a URL link where they can format the Calendar pages to look like their own web site and then have their visitors enter events directly into the system from their site. They can then have a URL link that extracts the data relevant to the Category and/or Location of their web site from the system. Because of the synergistic effect where everyone can enter information and then all can access any amount of the data this would give relevant, up to date content, on everyones web site.
If this system was currently available and up and running now, do you think that you would want to link to it in order to get this relevant data content on your site?

What sort of security will you have in place to prevent spammers/porn operators from trashing this?

There are two different forms of security in place.

1/ Registration-for those who are frequent users, they would be required to register their details, which would then allow futher privilages.
2/ For the general Public entering data-there is a notification system back to the website owner that data has been entered by a guest.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld btw....

Will you have some sort of "switch" available so that webbies will be able to disallow guest input? I can think of various sites and reasons why that sort of thing should be allowed only to registered users. And even perhaps to registered users of a certain length of time, or number of posts, or some such.

Yes.There would usually be an input url, aswell as a display url.For those webbies requiring a no input section-simple no Input url (although to me this seems to defeat the purpose of having a multi-user system)

Well, yes, it might defeat the purpose somewhat but I've ZERO interest in any system which is completely "open" to every idiot in this world with an axe to grind....

Your motives may be laudable, in fact probably are; but there are an infinite number of people out there who will choose to derail your locomotive just because they CAN, you know....

I would agree with you there. There are certainly idiots out there that would want to spoil any tea party, whether they had an invite or not.
A possible answer could be that the input url be placed in the members area of a site and any access to that input url require the incertion of a second password and user name to gain access to the url!

Please feel free to suggest futher modifications that could be made to the system bearing in mind that we don't want to strangle it before it's launch. The sytem has been designed for everyone to use and hopefully not abuse!

I would have to agree with vkaryl. From the outside maybe it's okay. Seems more like a "share your secrets".

It's awfully close to the share your log files that was posted a few days ago. I use your information, you track it's usage etc, which is fine, but trade secrets are just that. Are you expecting information contribution first, in exchange for usage?

This is good and what I had hoped for.Real input from people that deal with this stuff everyday.
As you can see,I'm new to this site,so I missed the share log thing.
It was my belief, especially from those webmasters I know in the Southern Hemisphere that one of their major client issues is content. This MUD sytem would overcome those inherent problems, but I do appreciate your concerns regarding security.

Sorry Superlite,I didn't notice the question tagged on the end of your submission.
Not necessairily as we have a few sites that are testing our system. They started with their own content, what they have found is that they have been quite happy having input from others that frequent their site.
The main use has been trialing a directory and an events calendar
