.exe file download problem via http

Can't seem to get an exe file to download via http

I am running IIS4 and I can't seem to figure out why my server won't allow an exe file to be downloaded. It will allow downloads from a .zip file, just not the .exe files.

Any ideas?

Ok, more information...

I have script (no execute) permissions on the parent folder within MMC and the directory with the files that are to be downloaded is set to "none" for permissions. This way when clicked on, the server will not try to execute the file. I'm still having the issues after this change and I'm at a loss. Eazy fix would be to "zip" up the .exe file and it will work fine, however, it's not the correct fix.

You do need to have read access on the file.

Make sure the content-type header is correct.

other than that I am little help with IIS
