If you have any ideas regarding this, even the most craziest ones, please post!
Basically I am looking for best selling points for the proposal.
The first consideration is whether the site is aimed solely at potential recording artists or at both the artists and the public.
The following is pulled from some presentation notes:
Some General Points:
* site is 24/7/365: best marketing value available.
* far more idiosyncratic design available than any other media: branding opportunity is constant.
* change can be as frequent and as targeted/general as desired.
* site is in essence a receptionist to the world constantly available to answer many common questions freeing up (real) staff for actual production.
* site can offer both minimal graphics/low bandwith and maximum graphics/multimedia/broadband at the same time ensuring maximum audience penetration.
* Principles, staff, and premises are always immaculate.
* Images and/or walk-through "experiences" of (each) studio on constant public view but never requiring anyones presence or the clearing of coffee cups.
* Bios with accompanying pics that present you the way you always wanted to look and be.
* Placement of PR releases, reviews, awards, trade/community positions appropriately presented to overwhelm viewers with your capability and authority.
Some Artists Points:
* internet is another (and increasingly common) way for artists to locate and book studios.
* a listing of those previously recorded, with accompanying bios, etc. makes you look established and not "fly-by-night".
* opportunity to offer another service to your artists - promo of them and their music/gigs/etc. to various extent at various rates - another revenue source. This helps your site content and studio credibility as well.
* emphasise the equipment - pics (of course) are great. List(s) by category and brand/model of equipment, if done well, can increase the apparent size and capability of the studio.
* details on mastering/dupes/numbers equipment/quality/time/etc. are all of great interest to potential recording artists. Push what makes you a leader in quality/quantity/efficiency.
* contact page needs unusual content options - sort of a restaraunt reservation including menu selections and noting diners special needs. A good contact page for recording industry is an interesting exercise and can make a big difference in a sites ROI.
* site should include info about where to stay and what to do while in locale to record. Note ad revenue and cross marketing potentials. Make the area as exciting as the studio to stay and play. The surroundings matter.
* a "news" section (or blog if so inclined) can position the studio as a progressive place where great things are the norm.
* provide a "session tips" section - be helpful and look like the experts you are.
* with a great webmaster (thats you moltar - free plug!) and a maintenance contract once the site is up it takes no more time from their schedule, except the time to have bright ideas. Sorry, gag, but it helps to push for that after sale service!
Should the studio also want to target the general public whole new vistas open up.
I will try to work something out. I already had a meeting with them to discuss what they want. I just wanted some more ideas, and got a ton from you :)
Some more facts that I should've mentioned before:
They are the biggest/best studio in the city, and they already have a website.
The studio got a new owner and was renamed.
They want to redesign their whole site to look more fresh. It was built several years ago with no major updates/redesigns.
