Any one know where I could get a list of countries and cites for a dynamic drop down list. Thanks

I was hoping for a list, say a spread sheet so I wouldn't have to go typing in what over 200 countries and I don't want even think about how many cities there are.

You might check out some of the free sites which have cgi, perl, java and php scripts. I'm pretty sure I've seen something like this in various places. While you would need to download the script itself to get the info, I don't know that you'd need to USE the script once you'd extracted the information. I DO think that you'd need to give credit somewhere for where you got the info, etc. - only the right thing to do....

Very true couldn't take someone's else work without getting permission or giving credit. I'm doing the site in php so I'll try one of the tutorial sites. Thanks for the hint time I suppose to use a web designers best friend. Google!

How about DMOZ or Yahoo - though that will require a manual "scrape".

When collecting important data I always try to get as close as possible to the source to avoid data pollution.

Fron the United Nations:-
World Regions [unstats.un.org]
Country Codes [unstats.un.org]
World Macro Regions and Components [un.org]

You could also try the CIA World Factbook [cia.gov].

From there I would be going to each country's site to collect state/city data.
