URL change

advice of how to change URL

I would like to change my site URL (and server as well) and, as far as possible, maintain my search engine standings. Would someone please list the basic steps one by one of this process or tell me where I migh be able to find this information?

Set up your new domain & information on the new server & make sure that [newdomain.com...] is fully active.

Once that has been set up, see if your new hosting company will provide a 301 - permanent redirect. If so, this is what you want. Point [olddomain.com...] to them & ask them to set up a permanent re-direct. This way, the search engines will know that it is not a door-way page, etc
