Thank you for this forum.
On occasion I'll do stuff I've never done before. I usually don't know much about this stuff either. I'm always satisfied with the progress and/or results. Here's what I'm up to now.
I want to create a web site where folks can list "wanted to buy" and "wanted to sell" ads. I don't want to categorize on the front end. The creator of the ad will just create the ad. The ad will go next in line on a "product list" type (static?) page.
The categorization will be in the front page's search function. I'd like a two pronged search function. Search title and content of ad in one search box. So if your looking for a 1999 Dodge Ram front bumper you won't get irrelevant Dodge, Ram, Bumper, etc search results.
I would want the ad creator to be able to post a jpeg and an e-mail link. I don't want community forum type responses to an ad.
Someone told me the "pruduct list" type platform is easy and uses few resources but the search function is where it gets complicated.
Before I even get into hosting, spiders, servers, etc.
I need to know if there is a free or fee based template similiar to what I described and where it could be found or created.
Sorry for the long winded first post and thanks in advance for any replys.

I would recommend checking out a script site such as [hotscripts.com....] You can find a variety of applications that might be close to what you're looking for.

I would recommend a listing on hotscripts called "Noah's Classifieds". I use it on my site, and it is open source (free).

It seems to have all of the features that you want, and it is easy to edit the code. It uses PHP and MySQL.

Noah's Classifieds

I saw this.
They offer no support for their free products yet give us no link to a pay product.
I do like the template though.
I found a bunch of classified type offerings and one offered hosting as well.
No rush.
I know more today than I did yesterday.
Thanks.

Are you looking for an ASP or PHP solution? The want to sell part would be no problem - very easy to obtain. The wanting to buy - like a classified section mainly.

Is this just for autos? Or would other items be for sale?
