well, we have a forum called Search Engine Submission [webmasterworld.com], but it's depreciated because nobody submits to search engines anymore. Basically if you have some links to your site the SEs will find you. There's no need to submit.

If you're interested in Directories, then we have a forum called Directories [webmasterworld.com] which covers the topic in some detail.

Hope that helps. :)

We maintain the site listed in the 4th post. We are the only site that I know that lets people download the list in 6 different formats and we use it to submit all our client sites, which is how the list got started...

Yes, there are sites that may not be worth submitting to, but then again, Google was started by two college kids, and we prefer not to try and decide who's hot and who's not and give all SE and small directories a chance. If people submit and provide them with content, then they should get more visitors as time goes on. We maintain a small directory that is on the list and that has been the case for us.

Anyway, the lists also have links to OTHER SE lists and they are under category #7, SE/DIR.

As far as the comment about no one submitting anymore, I think what was meant was no one submits to search engines that have spiders anymore. You should still be submitting to as many directories as possible, and there are some "search engines" that do not spider or do not spider well, so it may be worth your time to submit to them as well.

From the list we submit each project to about 180 sites, and while some are sure this must be a waste of time, our clients don't think so...
