AOL dumping broadband?

The main thing I have always remembered about AOL is how they 'spam' with the amount of money they waste on pressing CD's and stuffing them in magazines, shops and everything else you can think of.

I remember that going back even 10 years+ , I also remember looking into them and they seemed *very* expensive for their 'dialup' world then.

The people starting deserting them, and they started the "free 30 hours" etc.. and then whacking the charges on!

Unless you like living in the AOL World and look on your desktop, I'm not surprised people are chucking them out. I know of 2 people at least that have been treated badly by their Customer Service people and also had their Broadband screwed up.

they are plugging broadband here in the UK like crazy.

In the long term, only telecoms companies have a future in the ISP business. Companies bulk-buying bandwidth, etc. from telcos and supplementing that with some sort of portal or other is simply not a business model with a future (unless legislators skew the playing field).
