I'm running static directory. The title of the listing is an anchored text with the url to the site. When you pass the mouse cursor over the title you see the url on the status bar at the bottom of internet explorer. The thing is that I've attached a small java script to the link and when you click the title a new window opens up and that url is redirected through a program to count the hits on the link. Counting the hits is done to keep a top 40 links list. I've spidered the pages with a spider simulator and the links come up as http: //www.domain.com. So they seem to be ok.
So my questions are:
1. How can I be sure that they are actually pointing to the sites?
2. Is there a way that I could do a search to see if I could find sites that I'm actually linking to? Meaning that I am part of their backlinks.
1. Click the links...if you end up where you are supposed to be then they work.
2. Try link:www.the-site-i-think-i-link-to.com in yahoo or google. This will show you all the backlinks for that site.
Backlinks do not show up immediately if ever so be patient.
