Not sure what to do: to 301 or not to 301

Hi All,

I just moved server and remembered only after that I have about 60 redirects on my old server. The redirects were done 3-5 months ago and yahoo still has not updated to the new urls. I know they have problems handling 301 redirects because the results on their pages would show the new information but with the old url. No problem with google. I set up a decent 404 page with a link to the home page and a search bar to search our database but most people are just leaving the page. I'm wondering if I should leave it as is and wait for yahoo to update their database with our new stuff or redo the 301's on the new server. Yahoo spiders my site quite often in one day.

What do you think I should do?

Kepping your 301's is always the best practice. Don't for get about users who have had our site bookmarked and suddenly can't find the page they wanted anymore. The rule of thumb for 301s is not to ask whether or not you should keep them, but ask why not keep them. If there's a good reason not to keep them then get rid of them, otherwise keeping them should be the default decision.

Thanks karmov,

That's some sound advice. I guess I was just trying to squirm my way out of having to do the redirects all over again. I did them though.
