What exactly does that mean?

I'm shopping for a new host and one I'm considering going with has "Custom DNS" listed as a service either included or not included depending on the plan.

I know what DNS is all about, but what exactly do you think they mean by "Custom" DNS? At first I thought it was just a case of presenting an obvious and necessary service as an extra, but then I saw that one of their hosting plans does not come with the "Custom DNS." If "Custom DNS" were just another way of saying "DNS," then surely all plans would have it...I mean, you can't host a website without DNS, right?

Perhaps it allows you to register your own nameserver?
