Search engines ignore script?

(I hope they do)

I think this should be an easy question - do search engines ignore text in Javascript code? My reason for asking is: I think Google has dropped many of my pages because of the duplicate content filter, where the content in question is a blurb (in small print) on each of my pages that explains the feedback form on the page. I don't care if search engines see that blurb, and if it helps with the duplicate content issue, I'd just as soon write the content to document browser-side using a simple script. Do different search engines treat this differently?

Javascript is not indexed by search engines but that isn't quite the same as being ignored.

It is unlikely in the extreme that a paragraph or so of text being repeated on each page (that is otherwise unique) would trip a duplicate content filter unless there was virtually nothing else on the page. (I am, of course, assuming that it is not keyword spam).

Kaled,
Thanks for your reply. My pages are informational, with a large part of the information being in the form of photos, which search engines don't care about. The text information is considerably larger than the constant blurb for some pages, while for others they're of about the same size.
From reading other forum threads here, I gather that the duplicate content filter (Google's, at least) has become much more far-reaching lately, and no longer only applies to whole-page content. But maybe I misunderstood.

Perhaps you should consider placing common text in an IFRAME. These are treated as separate pages and so no duplicate content penalty could accrue.

That's an idea I hadn't thought about yet - I'll look into it! Thanks again
