Outgoing Mail in Outlook Express

Servers are correct, what's left to do?

I contacted my host and they logged into my account and sent/received an email, which worked for them. Unfortunately, I can only receive mail but cannot send mail (it stays in my Outbox). My servers are correct and so is my password, etc.

I receive an error that reads: The connection to the server has failed. Account:'mail.lovelyweapon.net', Server:'mail.lovelyweapon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, socket error: 10060, Error number: 0x800CCC0E.

Basically, my hosting company said I should contact my ISP, but I'm really lost. Someone help!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com], lovelyweapon.

Your ISP is probably blocking port 25 for outbound mail connections. You can contact them for confirmation, but the best way is simply to use the ISPs outgoing mail server instead of your hosting companies' one. That is what your ISP wants you to do, and that is the best way in any case. Your emails will still be sent out out with your correct email address.

Check the ISPs documentation, then set the SMTP server accordingly, and leave the incoming mail set to your hosting company.

I'm going to try that right now. In any case, thank you so much for your help. :)

Some hosting companies ( for example 1and1 ) require user authentication for the outgoing mail.

There is a radio button in outlook express in the server section of your mail account properties. Select it, it might work.

I'm not sure about correct names for folders and options. All of my programs, including outlook, are in Russian. May be someone here can give you exact dirrections.

Anyway I would suggest to use "The Bat" or "Opera" mail programs, they are much more secure.

I have the same problem. In my case it's my ISP. They block the SMTP server so you just can use theirs. What I did was.. I created a foward email acccount with my domain so I get those email in another webmail like Gmail. That's the easy way, plus, I prefer Gmail Spam filter. However, if you just like Outlook, try calling your ISP.

Yeah outgoing doesn't work for my domain so I use my ISP.

Ex: smtp.chartermi.net
