Naming a Subdomain

I heard that to use the word "link" on your link page. I am wondering if the same is true for a forum.

Should I use:

Forum.widget.com

or something else like:

Talk.widget.com

I think you mean "...to not use the word link on your link page"?

I don't agree with that, but I remember the thread. There was a similar one about not using the phrase "site-map" and I disagree with that too, but that's just my opinion ;-)

Anyhow, if you're targetting people specifically looking for a forum in your sector, having the keyword "forum" in the URL, at the moment (and subject to change at any other moment knowing SE's) is a good thing. You could do the same with a directory:-

www*.widgetz.com/forum/xyz.html
