Start Rant:

I just visited a semi-popular camping, hiking, backpacking site, looking for a specific article, I had to look at 6 articles to kind the piece of information I wanted. Below are what I had to go through to view those 6 articles:

First Article: I viewed the first article with no hassle.

Second Article: In order to view the second I had to have a FULL SCREEN ad sit on my screen for 20 SECONDS we no way to bipass. Even worse, the ad had literally 7 words (!), so after 2 seconds I had already read the ad twice.. but I still 18 more seconds left to wait.

Third Article: I viewed the first article with no hassle.

Fourth Article and After: In order to view the fourth article, I had to register with the site. One of those, free we're-gonna-spam-you-to-death kinds of registrations.

That was too much for me, I blocked the cookies from that site are gave them the finger.

I understand the need for full page ads, if you want awesome articles, you deserve to get paid for it. However, these were not awesome articles, there were 200-300 word sad-attempts-at-generating-content-quickly articles.

Ok Rant Over.

I hate those interstatial ads (I think that's what they're called). I would never EVER use them on my site. Especially since I've mentally blacklisted two sites that does that. I know revenue is important, but some sites go out of their way just to tick off visitors. This site I'm talking about doesn't just have interstatials, but they have ads all over the page. I mean, ALL OVER. On the site, on top, on the other side, in the middle, at the bottom -- reading their articles was impossible! And to top it off, there were those bloody insterstatials everywhere! Is making a couple more cents per visitor worth losing that visitor for good?

I agree 150%.

The only decent ads I tolerate are the text ads from Google on other sites.

It's NOT worth the extra pennies per user to annoy my visitors.
