Hello
I am Planning to upload a whole bunch of small biz sites at the same host that WebmasterWorld uses
The host provides a free MIVA cart

How does it perform?

Thanks for any input

Regards

There are only about 4 or 5 good Miva hosts out of the 1500 or so that offer the shopping cart, this is not one of them.

If the sites are small and stay that way with little or no ad on modules you may do OK but the sites will run slow.

I'd be interested in hearing who those hosts are as well--plz sticky. I've used Miva for a little while and really like it.

Thanks

I use the host webmasterworld does too, aside from one issue I have it works good with OCScommmerce, never used miva :)
my sites seem to load pretty slow though, so I would have to say I agree with the previous post.

WestHost had some growing pains a few months ago, but if you look at their overall record, they have been great. I would assume WebmasterWorld is on a dedicated server.

Any time a shopping carts gets extremely popular it will put a big load on the server (CPU), because shopping carts are database intensive. You said you were starting a bunch of small biz sites. I think you will be fine, though I like OSCommerce better than Miva, because optimizing the pages in Miva is no easy task.

Thank you
I use quite often OScommerce
however in my present quest I will use MIVA
for its easyness of install offered by the host

After reading again the above posts
my concern moves to loading speed I did notice that
regardless of my cable modem WebmasterWorld is the slowest of the sites I vist to load.

I've used it here many times - works perfectly.

It's clear that some of the negative comments in this thread are by competitors.

This is why we don't do hosting discussions on WebmasterWorld. There is NO SUCH thing as an honest hosting recommendation.

Brett_Tabke, You are correct
this is the reason why I edited my last post even before reading yours
I realized that I was starting the wrong topic

Sorry Brett, but I am not a host of any type or form.
I used to design Miva based sites and have used several hosts. From that I have found that there are several ways to configure a server to handle the Miva back end of Empressa or the VM Machine.
The problems I have run into are mostly based on miss configured servers or machines that were loaded with several Miva carts and not enough horse power to handle the load.

not you conard - the 2 I deleted that were flames. This is why we don't do products/services discussions on webmasterworld - they always turn personal.
