Free Mail Server

The situation is I have a Windows XP Pro machine running IIS (the version that comes with the disk).

What I want to do is to run mail server for a few freinds but needs a webmail interface.

I can program ASP and inteface with databases if required but no PHP, etc experience.

Any suggestions to a free solution?

I have found out that I can install any required operating system but I prefer to work in ASP. Am willing to learn PHP or others as required.

Would need step-by-step setup for any other operating system than windows for both web server and email server.
