This is somewhat related to site work....

I have many old Eudora 4.3 mailboxes that I want to put into a text or Word format, but don't know how to do it. I've searched for something about it, but have come up empty. Anyone have a link or hint on a workable solution to my huge mess?

Just select all the messages in the mailbox, then click "save as." I don't know about your version, but this has always worked for me.

IIRC all Eudora mailboxes are in MBOX format, which is text-based. Just try opening them in a text editor like Notepad and see what you get.

But you have embedded message headers and HTML code that you have to deal with. I have a program still in beta, that reads Eudora mailboxes, and parses out each message, reads the time and date, message title and sticks each message into a database. It than attaches the messages to an incident reporting system.

But the pain is to eliminate all the HTML code and retain the message as plain text.

Also note that deleted messages may still be present in the mailbox files until they are compressed.

zomega42: Seems I'm then missing important headers, and then getting a mish-mash of html tags.

encyclo: I've been hashing over copies of the .mbx files, but I have years of emails and a stack of .mbx files on hand. I need a more elegant solution.

Looks like some sort of divine intervention is required, or some inspiration.
