Question about www.

My site is now 100 pages and climbing.

When I began, I used the address for every page as [MySite.com....] I notice that some sites use the www in the address. Is there a difference? Does it affect search engines?

Also, when I ask people to link to me, should I include the www. in my address?

Thanks.

You'll never get it 100% one way or the other, but try to be consistent about which version you use, rather than having your link popularity (both internal and external) split between the two versions.

I can't prove that it makes any difference to SEO, but I'm convinced it helps.

I've got one that uses [mysite.com,...] though my next will try to be consistent with [myothersite.com...] since this is considered by some to be 'standard'; I'll try to come up with something in php or w/mod_rewrite to send headers 'moved permanently' to the www version on the site. This just for SE's.

Nb: you ever wonder if [mysite.com...] might do slightly better than [mysite.com...] in SEPS do to the 'www' watering things down in anchors which display the site name?
