Are there any good/fun_to_read magazines for webmasters out there?

I mean physical paper magazines with lots of glosy adds for typical webmasters.

not sure. there's so much to read here that I'm not done yet, and I've been reading a bit near on daily. And of course, there's that whole other supporter's closet down the hall that I've not even peeked into as of yet.

If such mags do exist, I'd be hard pressed to believe they contain as much useful content as you'll find poking around here.

Well I havn't found any either, the closest you might get is perhaps Internetworld. Actually these forums is perhaps the best source there is.

In the UK there are a whole raft of them such as .net and others, many run by Future publishing. But like Kevin says, they aren't much as much use as the internet, and are slightly more out of date. Often they are useful for the cover disc if you couldn't be bothered to source and download various bits of software. Or you could keep one on hand for something to read during a power cut.

I find myself buying one or more of these magazines every month, but it's a vice and I keep trying to kick the habit. I know they're no good for me.

Thats too bad. I know the best real source for webmaster info is here. But at the same time would love to get a glossy mag in my mail box every month.

Specially for competing adds for webmasters. (Servers/hardware, Hosting packages, SEO services, etc)

Brent, Any ideas?

I used to buy the occasional single issue from a whole range of titles including:

.net
Practical Internet
Internet Magazine
WebDesigner
Internet Works

I still do occasionally. It depends largely what's on the coverdisk and what the features and tutorials are.

Of course, the technical tips don't generally come anywhere close to what's available here and on ALA, but it shortens the train journey from London to Sheffield. >;->
