I had someone create a web site for my company. My company is a consulting company for lawyers. We advise them on ethics issues. I did not see it but the web designer put “Legal Advice on Ethics” in the title bar which is not visible on the web page. I think he meant to put “Advice on Legal ethics” instead. At any rate, I am now in all kinds of trouble with a claim that this title bar means I am holding myself out as entitled to practice law, a felony crime. He asked me to approve the web site by going to his web site. I read it there and never saw any title bar. I need authoritative sources that show when you read the web page from someone’s else website on the Internet that you can not see the title bar. I approved the web site by looking at it on the webmaster’s Internet site. I never saw a printed page that would reveal the title bar there.

Help!

What were you looking at? A screenshot? Was this pre-launch?

It looks like the page was framed. I don't know why anyone would do that, but if that was the case, you have seen, if it was there, the title of the frameset page. That page has nothing to do with yours. But the webdesigner can change your wrong title right away, can't he?

You were probably looking at a prepared image of your wb site. Altering a web page title takes a VERY brief moment.
