My site is not finished yet: should I register it already?

I'm building a hobby site (see my profile) dedicated to a new programming langage rebol - crafted by the Creator of Amiga Carl Sassenrath - and I have much content already but it's far from being finished, can I register it already on Google or is it better to wait for more content?

get the domain name registered if you haven't, get a hoster for it, set up the site, get a link to the site from somewhere, then put up a temporary page for google to hit while you finish it. The sooner the better. Then worry about finishing it later.

Is it really necessary to get a domain name? It's just a hobby site. Rebol is not well known (yet) so I doubt that I will generate enough traffic to get paid by ads before long :).

What's difference in ranking between a domain name or not?

yeah, can be huge difference. first, nobody links to ip addresses. if you don't get a domain, nobody will link to you. if nobody links to you, googlebot will never come find you. suck it up and spend the $7.95 on godaddy for your very own domain.

Starting early will help with the Google sandbox. I would go with GoDaddy due to their terms and conditions.
