I need some advice/suggestions/opinions on the subject below:

I have a free pdf-download on my website. I have 8 detailed weekly traffic logs, showing hits from search engine spiders and hits of downloads. I have 30 weekly traffic logs showing only the total number of hits to the file (without sub totals of hits from spiders or downloads) and I must calculate/estimate the number of downloads during these 30 weeks.

What is the best approach:
Based on the 8 weeks detailed logs: calculate a weekly average of hits from spiders and deduct this from the total hits from the 30 weekly logs,
or
calculate a percentage (%) of the hits from spiders (in relation to total hits) and deduct this percentage from the total hits from the 30 weekly logs,
or
any other approach?

Thanks

I would go with option #1. You know correct information for 8 weeks. Use that to estimate the traffic for the 30 weeks.

I also think that this is the most correct approach. I must comment/justify why this is the best approach, and why it is better than using the percentage (%)? Any suggestion?
