When I use Microsoft's update scan to check for these new patches it tells me I have no critical updates to install. The last time I installed updates was months ago, this latest was released in July. Any ideas why it's not finding it? Also I tried the direct download link and when I open that EXE ti says I must have IE 6 installed, which I do. I have XP home and IE 6.0.2800.1106. Any ideas why it says I don't have any critical updates to install?

Do you have updates running automatically? That could explain it.

No I don't have auto update enabled. Also after reading that article, I can assure you I don't have a pirated XP copy. So everything checks out, yet I can't install the update. What's the deal? Anyone else have this problem and find a solution?

been trying to get this update for a while, both the windows update feature and the direct download keep crashing half way through the download.

Oh the irony of not being able to patch a product because the product to stuffed :)
