If you were bulidng a CD-Rom to open fullscreeen via auto-run, what would you use as the maximum width and height for presentation when the program loaded?

800 x 600?
Larger? smaller?

The target audience are schoolkids who will view it on their School PC's. I have not seen monitors at a lower res then 800 x 600, but then I have only visted 3 schools to date, and things have moved on since I was a kid ;)

Hope this chart helps of percentages in July:

1. 1024x768-----56.81%
2. 800x600------31.67%
3. 1280x1024----4.84%
4. 1152x864-----1.97%
5. 640x480------0.63%
6. 1280x960-----0.45%
7. 1400x1050----0.40%
8. 1600x1200----0.36%
9. 1280x800-----0.34%
10. 1440x900----0.21%
Subtotal ======97.67%

So... 0.63% using resolution lower than 800X600 with 2.33% unaccounted for (maybe PDAs and TV)

Dixon.

Thanks receptional. Those will help.

I think it's pretty safe to say that so long as the player fits within say 790 x 590 I will be OK.

I'd be very interested to know where you got those statistics. How recent? How big of a slice of Internet users?

I'm in the 4.84% minority with my 21" Sony monitor according to your survey! I find it hard to believe that such a small portion of internet users use my resolution setting.

I just took the stats from a site that has about 1000 visitors a day.

I couldn't possibly use your setting - I am nearly 40 you know - my eye's aren't what they used to be!

Actually, I think most people have 17 inch screens - very few have 21 inch. That resolution on a 17 inch screen is really tough 8 hours a day.
