I posted here last night about images and hyperlinks not showing up on my page. I run Norton Internet Security 2004, and decided to uncheck the "Block ads on this site". Lo and behold, my images and hyperlinks now show up.

Why does the SAME PAGE give me a problem on VPS, yet doesn't give me a problem on my shared hosting account? (I uploaded my index.htm page to one of the sites I HAVEN'T moved to my VPS.)

What can I do to make Norton NOT view the images (and hyperlinks) as ads?

Try [webmasterworld.com...] message 3. If all of your images are blocked, it is usually because they are in a directory with a "banned" name.

Norton Internet Security is an evil, hopeless, dangerous piece of junk and should be banished off the face of the earth. Trouble is, there are a load of users who swear by it...

every thing encyclo said ..seconded with emphasis

BTW ..most of those who swear by it have more virii and trojans lurking in their systems that this junk missed ..
But it has a nice box ..nice site ..comes installed in 95% of machines ( at about a dollar a machine ..go figure ) and is recommended by Microsoft ...

and we all know they know about security don't we ; )

ROTFLOL ..if it wasn't so sad ..

Oh... I nearly forgot ..it's probably the most "cracked" security prog available in warez ..which oughta tell you something ..

Not just banned names. Check the image sizes: If they are a standard banner size they will be blocked also.

Can someone advise whether we can get Norton to add our sites to their updates so our sites can be viewed correctly?

Cheers

Karl ;)
