Can anyone provide a review for this web host?

I did a google search for:
site:webmasterworld.com specific web host

and I found only one result. This shows this particular host is not much discussed on this forum. Several people have suggested another host here. I am planning to get a dedicated server for Windows (.net) and I need to decide on a hosting company. There is about 30-40$ difference between the two company's dedicated servers, but one is also providing some managed hosting features at the low price (basic OS & security patches and updates).

Can anyone point out benefits or drawbacks of one over the other? Whatever I have read so far looks good about them but I am concerned just because this host is not discussed on this forum.

Thanks

From the forum charter [webmasterworld.com]:

Public discussion and recommendation of hosting companies is no longer allowed at WebmasterWorld.

That's why there are no discussions on the subject!

OK.. thanks for the pointer.

Then I would ask a generic question. Should I choose a dedicated hosting provider, which allows adult content v/s a dedicated hosting provider which does not allow adult content?

1. The probability of bad network performance is more with a provider who allows adult content?(More streaming media sites).

2. The IP address that I get might be subject to spamming / adult content before I got it?

Thanks

Hosts have their "collections" of IP addresses, and unless you need otherwise for your own site, IMHO you'd best go with a company that's all G-rated.

What you're talking about with managing might possibly be what's referred to as co-location. We've had some discussion about how that works I believe, you might try a search to check.

Shak I completely agree with what you are saying. I have read mixed reviews about both of these service providers in different forums, but I initially posted my question because I did not find anything mentioned about host "A" on webmasterworld, but there was enough discussion about host "B". I just felt uncomfirtable in signing up with someone who is not discussed here. But now I have found out that host "A" is relatively new one and by that time policies of discussing web hosts were changed at webmasterworld.

It is becoming hard to decide. The only downside I am seeing at this point is that host A allows hosting of adult sites and I am really afraid about that.

Anyway, it has really become hard for me to decide without getting an opinion at webmasterworld.

Thanks

When I was looking for a decent host, netcraft came in very handy for checking uptime, etc., which gives a small indication. It's a fairly well known tool though, so maybe you've already checked.

As far as hosts are concerned, I'd probably have to agree Marcia and avoid anything too heavily adult-related, just in case.

My search has now ended. I opted for the $109 a month host (+59 setup), instead of $79 host (free setup), just because of the cheaper one allows adult content. I don't know if this is the right decision, but I think reviews for both of them were pretty good at all other places.
