What is the difference between the "chained SSL" I see various places for sale from $20-$50 and the "non-chained" SSL that seems to be $50 and up?

Our host recently installed Chained SSL for us, and there's no difference, except the cost, as near as I can tell.

"Chained" SSL is a "trust" chain beginning at a trusted "root" Certification Authority with each subsequent certificate "signed" by all the preceeding to indicate they too can be trusted.

"Normal" SSL requires all certificates to go direct to a root Certification Authority for trust verification.

If you trust the chain it is less expensive.
