I am looking for that thingy which is in the center of the webpage and it always updates the news. i am sure it uses php but how is that thing called? hmm hard to describe..its like on <Sorry, no example URLs. See TOS [webmasterworld.com]>

in the middle of that indian page there are these columns or boxes. how to do these boxes using php? and what are those called :-)

RSS feed?

Sorry - I don't do news or stuff like that, but feeds seem to me to be what you're looking for....

Didn't I recently read something here on SE being not too much in love with RSS feed

There is a relatively new RSS forum here at WW. They can probably answer any questions that you may have about rss or xml feeds.

Reconsidering....

Do you mean the actual LAYOUT of the sections on the page? If so, it's called a "portal". Check out phpNuke (which I personally don't like, but millions of people the world around swear by as if it were the second coming....)
