Hi,

I just installed windows xp.

How do I get a 'short-cut" to my last 10 documents viewed?

Right now I have to click 'start' then go to "my documents" and scroll thru the whole list.

I had windows98 and under "my documents" it would list about the last 10 viewed, and then if you wanted to view ALL documents you could just click on "My Documents.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Dan

Hmmm, that's very strange. I've installed XP more than a dozen times now and have never had that happen. In the start menu, there is a drop-down called "My Recent Documents" at the top right, second item down in all instances on my machines.

I tried changing themes and such to see if it changed the layout at all, but the drop-down was right there for every theme.

Hopefully someone else has an answer for you. :(

Ok, here's how to get it.

1. click the START button
2. RIGHT click somewhere down by the "turn off" and "log off" buttons. A little menu with PROPERTIES as the only option shows up. Click that
3. select the START MENU tab
4. You can select from a windows 98 style start menu, or the XP. I'd recommend the XP. It's got the best functionality.
5. Click CUSTOMIZE next to "Start Menu"
6. Select the ADVANCED tab
7. At the bottom next to the "clear list" button is a check mark for "list most recently opened documents" Be sure to check it.
8. Apply and OK your way out.
Now your start menu will list recent documents. Mine lists 15. I'm not sure if that number varies though.

Good luck!

Hi,

SEOMike: Thanks a million for the help, your instructions were very easy to follow.

I now have a most recent doc tab (list 15) and it sure makes life a lot easier.

Thanks again,

Dan

You are very welcome Dan. Glad I could help. And since I so rudely neglected to say it in my previous post...
