Are there log files for windows servers or only for unix/linux apache servers?

Yes there are, but I think you have to configure them, I seem to remember that they aren't on by default, I haven't done windows server stuff for a while now, can't remember all the places they go, IIS has its own, which should definitely be setup to help detect intrusions etc, nt server has tons of logfiles too, some can be accessed in administrative tools.

Yes, the majority of webservers will produce logfiles - including IIS which is the default webserver for Windows.

...and IIS does have logs by default, although they aren't as useful as you'd like since they don't cover all the data (thankfully most hosting companies switch to to full logging on your behalf).
