what does a redirect counter link look like?

Something like <a href="/cgi-bin/something.cgi?www.example.com">Example.com</a>. You will see this link in the status bar.

Some redirects are hidden from your eyes. If you see a site with only internal cgi links visible to you, e.g. /cgi-bin/something.cgi?id=1234 the cgi may or may not be counting, but it is redirecting all the same.
