Where do lyrics sites get their database of lyrics from?

I am wondering if anyone knows where all these lyric sites get their database of thousands upon thousands of lyrics from? Is there a common source or 'feed' that can be used to obtain a large number of lyrics and continually new lyrics? Or do these sites parse them from each other? Any ideas?

I believe that the vast majority rely on stealing from other websites, including other lyrics sites, fan sites, and the artist's websitse, and from submissions.

Be careful, copyrights and phonorights are tricky business. I think, however, you could link to the sites without any problems, but I'm not a lawyer, or a judge.

You're correct. Copyright is a big issue. One of the major players, links a large majority of lyrics to google searches because of a removal request from the content owner.
