Which is your favorite FTP?

Far as I can tell, that's just the same 30 day eval they've had practically forever, though it IS vers 8.0
You have to scroll further down the page to get to the free LE version, that's the basic version that hasn't changed for at least 5 years.
WS_FTP LE is a limited edition version available exclusively for educational purposes at an educational institution.
So technically, most of users are probably breaking the terms of the license.
I'd forgotten that part, I actually was at an educational institution when I first downloaded it, it's been so long I forgot that part. Maybe if filezilla got their stuff working as claimed, it's worth a new look, wouldn't want to violate any licenses...
I still use the older version of leech here.
Ws_ftp really has the site management thing down, open it, pick your site, hit enter, it's what makes me unable to switch, buggy and error prone as it is. Plus the tiny size, though looks like leech is just a bit bigger, smartftp is huge, why would anyone need 6 mB to do ftp access?
Cute FTP (spyware?)
I've been using the paid version of FTP for about 3 years now. I currently have Cute FTP 5.0 XP. I run a full system scan for spy/scum/adware once a week and have never picked up one single file associated with Cute FTP. I've installed it on a new computer recently, and ran the spyware checkers later in the day, still nothing.
What version of the program do you think had spyware in it? I'm pretty confident that one of my 4 spyware checking programs would have identified it.
Maybe ergophobe isn't too sure if there's really spyware because he has a "?" at the end. Well, either way, I'd like to know.
I use BatchFTP (free) for scheduled, saved, and batched FTP jobs. Like backing up a website every week.

Correct. I wasn't sure. Maybe the free version is nagware. I vaguely remember that if you didn't pay, it kept after me, but that could be wrong too.

Downside of free wsftps? Unstable, easy to crash if you try to stop up or downloads in mid process, can't make window open at any other than too small default size.
agree with you on the crashing but I have always got ws_ftp to open up with maximised window. and I mean it opens automatically at that full dimension. odd!

In WS_FTP LE..
Step 1) Resize or maximize the WS_FTP window.
Step 2) Go "Options" > go to the "General" tab > then press the button "Save Window Locations".
Now your WS_FTP will always open nice and big.
I have probably manually resized ws_ftp several thousand times, I looked all over for a setting, but always missed that one. :) I am a happy camper today, I'm glad I mentioned that pet peeve!

I spent a few years doing the same with WS_FTP.. manually resizing the window each time. It was definitely annoying.
WS_FTP should have the "save window location & size" as a checkbox in the options. That would have been more logical, and easier to understand for users.
No fuss. No mess.
Rumours of a new version on the way. too.
