Best place to buy a domain name from

Hello everyone, this is my first post so I guess I just wanted to say hello. This forum has a really good vibe to it. Anyways, I am planning on buying a domain name this week and I was wondering where the best site is to buy your name from and to host it as well. There are so many out there and some dont seem as reliable as others. Also, do I buy a website and a host through the same company or can it differ. Sorry, I am very new to this but feel I can catch on quickly. Thanks in advance,

It somewhat goes against the TOS to post links. GoDaddy is popular for domain names. Generally, it is best to buy the domain name at one place and host at another place. There are a zillion and one places to host. If you are just starting out, it probably won't make that much difference where you host. Netcraft has some good surveys about host dependability and speed.

Wherever you buy the domain from:
have access to the zone files

wherever you host:
do not let them take your domain to their name servers
YOU point the domain to the IP they give you.
