When ever I run into a disabled back-button I feel compelled to write the web developer a message expressing my disgust. 20% of the time I even take the time to do it too.

If I decide to leave: NOBODY tells me otherwise!

Now, obviously there are still tons of webmasters who believe to have the right and try enforcing something on their users that does not have any merit (IMO). Especially here in Germany (on average the worst place on the web regarding cheating and being cheated upon, I hate the German Internet in general as too many morons destroy all the value, SE's are clueless regarding spamming, the German Internet is useless).

So, I was interested in knowing on what base does this disturbing back-button disabling survive? Is there any hard data that suggests these morons have some benefit while p..ing off their users?

I don't know the answers to your questions.

But I don't like any bit of software taking control of any of my hardware without my explicit permission -- and that includes right-click disablers too.

I found a back-button disabling site only the other day while editing on DMOZ.

I don't know if the site has enough content to be listable on DMOZ because I abandoned the review at that moment.

I personally didn't want to risk what else the site might do if the home page was prepared to disable my browser.

Maybe another editor will review it one day. But that's an SEP.
