I copied all of the files from the old server to the new server, i did not change anything. I then proceeded to change the name server from my domain to point to that of the new server. If everything goes right, things should be ok in the next 24-36 hours...correct?
Did i do it right? Am i missing anything?
Thanks
These days the DNS change starts propagating in about 5 minutes of it being done, so you won't have to wait that long to see the hits coming into the new server, (check the logs for both sites to see the change). Nevertheless, leave all the files on the old server for a week or so, just to be sure.

For example, on my new server i access my mail by going to www.newserver.com/mail....but that does not work yet...and on my old server...i access my stats by going to www.oldserver.com/webstat...and the works...but the thing is that i check my logs on my newserver, and i am getting hits there...dont know whats going on.
do i have to wait longer for everything to settle in?
Of course, if you've got a dedicated server and the new one is supposed to be identical to the old, then the problem is obviously elsewhere . . .
on the new server, im suppose to access mail by going to domain.com/mail... on the old server...it was webmail.domain.com.
I am receiving traffic on the new server...but when i type it domain.com/mail...i get a 404....when i type in webmail.domain.com, it goes thru...get what im saying? since im receiving traffic on the new server..should it go thru...domain.com/mail?
