I have a website which provides free information to scientists. I have google adsense ads on the site. Is my site considered as a commercial or nonprofit site?

Thanks,

Commerical.

Its non-profit ONLY if you are a registered non-profit.

I guess a personal site or blog could be considered a non-commercial site (as opposed to a non-profit, if that makes sense). But as soon as you start making money you're commercial.

Thans zulufox,

If I have registered as nonprofit, can my site carry ads?

Well yes, but you the profits from the revenue HAS to obey rigid "non-profit" laws.

For example they have to go to the non-profit's bank account, not your own. And you can't buy anything for yourself with it, it has to be reinvested.

You should get yourself a lawyer and he can set it all up and register the org for you.
