Error 501/505 - Not implemented or not supported

I get this error when trying to go to a site. Others say it works but I can't figure out what is wrong.

I have tried different things to resolve it. But I don't get where a program may be interfering when I have Show friendly HTTP error messages checked.

I am hoping someone can help me figure this out.

Also I can't see nothing at all at another site, the whole page comes up blank. I have realized it does appear on a computer that had not gotten windows update done on it. Is there a fix, or can I take off the last windows upgrade or somthing?

TIA

A few suggestions:

  • Flush the Temporary Internet Files (under Internet Options).
  • Scan for viruses and trojans using your anti-virus program.
  • Download and run AdAware and SpyBot Search & Destroy (freeware).
  • Run Windows Update and apply the most recent security patches.
  • Consider trying an alternative browser as a cross-check on Internet Explorer (Mozilla FireFox is nice).

If you get a 501 back the header might be something like:
    HTTP/1.0 501 Not Implemented
    X-Kazaa-Username:#######
    X-Kazaa-Network: KaZaA
    X-Kazaa-IP: ###.###.###.###:####
    X-Kazaa-SupernodeIP: ###.###.###.####:####
    html
    Accept-Ranges: bytes
    Last-Modified: Sat, 29 Mar 2003 10:19:52 GMT
    ETag: "0544#####f5c21:93b"
    Content-Length: 3736

    and the html:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">
    <HTML><HEAD>
    <META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></HEAD>
    <BODY></BODY></HTML>

and the page will be blank.

ok jdMorgan I did all that and still nothing.

I am so frustrated, everything was fine until I ran window update and got it all updated. The one site that I see a blank page for I wrote them a email and they said:

"Strange. The change that seems to cause this is that we now use GZip compression when the browser indicates that it supports it. It would seem that your browser is telling us that it supports GZip, but it in fact does not. We are looking into it."

I still can't figure out why I get the 501/505 error at the other. Some mentioned that it may because of the update from HTTP 1.0 to HTTP 1.1 but I even tried unchecking them and still no luck. I wish I could undo my updates...
