Server Checking Tool

Need a tool/script/service to regularly check server?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a tool/script/service to regularly check if a server is up and running? (ex. you can get a page from a certain site..)

I've had some trouble with a new host and wish to automatically check the server once an hour or so....
