Not only am I having trbl displaying graphics using commission junction and qksrv, i also visit some other sites that just give me placeholders instead of graphics. I am an internet tech and fix these type of problems all day, but on my home laptop, it's been a 3 week challange. Someone noted that some type of pop up blocker program could be causing the prob. I downloaded a toolbar from wired news that I know has a pop up blocker but cant remove it--even upgraded to ie 6 sp-1, got new macromedia, new divx9, adjusted the settings in java, lowered my security settings, allowed all cookies, checked all my ssl boxes in advanced under internet options, checked allow images, even downloaded netscape 7.1 and still having trbl. instead of using free websites, last night i purchased a website and a domain name, so I need some serious help here. can anyone help me pls? I'm at the end of my rope --- getting ready to tie it to something and jump off the chair :) been dealing with this for 3 weeks. HELP ME PLEASE--FALLEN AND CANT GET UP!

Dumb question, but did you uncheck the box for that particular toolbar in IE?

If so and the problem persists, I'd go for a clean system first before drilling into the registry.

Run Spybot S&D and make sure you don't have gunk in the registry already.

That done, the next most likely culprit is a software firewall. Zone Alarm and Norton both block a lot of ads and Norton in particular seriously messes with qksrv links.

Test surf with firewall off and see what you get. You can use "Immunize" setting in Spybot to keep safe while testing.

On another note, any IE upgrade leaves previous registry problems in place, so an IE upgrade path is never a solution.

Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply, but there no box in the toolbar to uninstall or disable it---was runnig a free version of norton internet securities for 2 weeks because the isp i work for will start selling it and i'll have to support it, but between you an me it was a piece of junk! boot up became real slow because of the anti virus and firewall running and my internet speed was just about cut in half, so i uninstalled it. and i'm going to have to sell it and support it? yeh! the only firewall i'm using is windows and i even tried disabling it with no results, but thanks for the link and i'll try to run the scan and see what comes up. wish me luck!

Hate to say it, but I think if you install Norton products and later decide to remove them, the popup blocker might still block CJ links. I recall once I installed adsGone (a third party popup blocker) uninstalling it wouldn't restore popups. Something similar might happen with Norton. Have you tried looking at the hosts file?

BTW, as an internet tech, what were you thinking when you installed divx9 or any of the other stuff for? it seems fairly straightforward to me what would be related to this popup problem, and macromedia and browser upgrades really don't seem to fall in that category.
