...have been trying to hack one my of my websites since the beginning of the year, and I have no idea what action to take and weather or not I ought to be worried (I am anyway).

This month I have had 1446 hits from a hackers website (I can't see the thread that links to us, as they wouldn't let me register), and in my logs "/error_docs/forbidden.html" has shown up 600 times.

Has anyone got any ideas? I have tried to use .htaccess to block the IP to no avail - I know I must be doing something wrong, but have no idea what! I can't seem to see the file in fetch (I use a Mac with Os X 10.1.5 btw).

Can anyone help? Is this normal?

hi, i'm no expert on the subject but i would ..go to an internet cafe or a friends house and try to register
with this hacker site and see what it is they have put there to make so many people click through ..
there must be someone you can report this kind of thing to?

good luck ..

Doesn't sound like anything you should really worry about ... any little wannabe who actually FOLLOWS A LINK from a "hacker" site is going to be pretty clueless when it actually comes down to knowing how to break in to a system.

There are hackers out there who could probably bring you down, but I doubt they're coming from that link :) Just make sure you've got a good firewall (hardware, not software. A Cisco PIX would be a great way to go) and only open ports that are absolutely necessary.

Looks like you are blocking them just fine.
