Have used Norton, had troubles with it.
Am using Panda, they have sold my email address to spammers (Is this legal? The email address provided to them is unique, so I KNOW they have passed it onto spammers. Awaiting a reply from them).
Am using McAfee Spamkiller if anyone is interested in a good spam prog (caution: fault with prog is that it only filters on spoofed "From" addresses, so not very intelligent).
Thanks

Here's the authoritative independant site on virus progs: www.virusbtn.com
Top of the rankings you'll find NOD32, an evaluation can be downloaded for free from download.com. It's very reasonable at $40. Am about to trial and see whether the rave reviews from both users and virusbtn hold true.
www.ealaddin.com only offer a corporate version, no more home user licenses. They don't quote prices, neither do their resellers.
Thx a lot, hopefully a light very near the end of the tunnel on a worthwhile anti-virus prog. Panda, Norton and McAfee deserve to have the whistle blown on them.
It's probably not exactly the best defence, but I'm pretty careful with what I open/download and all my email gets scanned by my mail provider (fastmail.fm) before I see it anyway, so its really just a safety net.
Definitely not the best solution for an office situation though.
Am now using NOD32 and am wondering about 2 things. Neither of which have been responded to by NOD...
1. NOD slap a footer on all received email saying that it's been checked. This smacks of their indulging in free advertising - anyone know how to de-activate this?
2. NOD conflicts with McAfee Spamkiller - each and every time an email arrives it throws up errors (not fun).
So still on the path for the best anti-virus prog. Any and all contributions welcome.

Why is AVG free?
Actually, it is more accurate to say that there is a basic free version of AVG. Versions with more capabilities may be purchased, starting at about $33.
You'have to look at their website (grisoft.com) to see the differences --in frequency of updates, ability to schedule and customize tests, and of course, technical support.
