Where to buy world wide lat/lon city database...

We have one for the US, what about world wide?

We need to do the distance calculations between cities for our website. We have already set it up for the US, but now we need to do so world wide.

The problem is we have only found one place and it is extremely expensive.

There is a company called Meridian World Data that offers the lat/lon for 3,002,589 cities world wide, but their price is $800.

I am hoping someone here at Webmaster World would utilize the same data on their sites and might know of a better place to purchase the data for a lesser amount?
