I was just about to start work on a 'print this whole tutorial' script when it struck me:

if people can print my tutorials, why would they ever come back (to look at that tutorial)? On the other hand, I want to provide convenience to my visitors.

I understand that anyone can print a page off whenever they want, which is fine, but my lessons (tutorials) are multi-paged (harder to print off each page on a 20 page lesson) and the pages aren't exactly printer-friendly. So a script would probably increase the prints by quite a bit. The lessons are also the biggest draws in terms of traffic.

Should I go ahead with writing the print script, and wait to see how many people use it?

I know many people that don't read anything on their monitors. It's good to accomodate as many people as possible. And making tutorials printable is a nice feature to offer. You could test it on a few selected articles. I think that if people like your site and it's tutorials, they'll return.

I personally print things only when I want to rest my eyes or lay down.

How you set up typography on your printed pages makes a huge effect on how well visitors understand your pages once they print them out. See the bottom post on this page [webmasterworld.com] for specific tips.
