My friend wants to change to a new trackball mouse , reason being the current mouse is not really gripping the wheels properly bcoz she uses those oily ointments on her hands, I guess that's the problem.
Bcoz after cleaning it & then with me using it, it works just fine.
So I thought maybe an optical trackball mouse with no moving rollers would be much suited for her, is there one.
If not which brand you prefer, logitech or M$?

The oily stuff attracts lint. The lint accumulates on the little nipples that track the ball. You have to periodically pop the ball out of the socket and give it a rinsing. You also have to pick at the nipples to get the lintballs out.

It's not the perfect mouse, but it's good for the wrists and lower maintentance than the regular mice.

Yes, the lint is one part, I think the traction is another factor, no grip from the oily ball to the mini balls. I did a search on logitech's site, they dont have optical trackball mouse..

So I guess, I'll have to tell her to know how to maintain it everytime, but the things are rather hard to clean.
Then a note: for an optimum performing trackball mouse, you should clean the nipples & balls of the mouse at all times. :) - I guess it will rank well for that particular phrase - hope I'm not against TOS here, just a bit of humour..
Martin brough it up first - not me :)
