There are audio ripping programs that will record anything going through your speakers, and save it as a file. You turn it on, then start listening to the RM file, wait until it's finished, then you turn it off. Everything you heard will be saved as a file. It's the modern equivalent of copying tapes by holding a ghettoblaster up to the speakers of your stereo and pressing "record". (I'm old enough to remember doing exactly that)
It requires some tweaking of levels to avoid clipping and distortion, and it's handy to have a sound editor to clip the beginning and end off the result.
The other caveat is that all the extra sounds your computer makes are also recorded. I have MP3s where half way through there is the distinct sound of a new MSN message arriving. If you're using the sounds for anything public, it makes the audience anxious because they subconsciously think they have to check their mail.
