Yahoo Stores down for over 7 hours

Entire netowk of ecommerce sites down for over 7 hours.

This is huge news. When was the last time you heard of an entire network getting brough to it's knees for over 7 hours? Hundreds of thousands of dollars lost, for sure. Lot's of angry merchants. Not a good day for Yahoo or for their merchants.

Yeah, i wasn't too happy about it. Although mine was only down for an hour or two. Still, probably lost several hundred dollars.

I do have to say that although Ystore has lots of downfalls, they have been the most solid host i've ever had. Downtime has been VERY rare.

I do know they are making changes to Ystore. They are having a live online forum on the 28th to discuss the new changes. I suspect it's because of these new changes that the network was down.

Last year when they made a bunch of changes our site was also down for 30 minutes or so.

Here is Ystore's answer:

Yahoo! is currently experiencing a DOS (Denial of Service) attack. We are working aggressively on the problem and will update you as we have more information.

It Started Approximately 8:30am PST on 1/21.

All Store pages are currently being served but intermittently. Visitors to your page may see delays or intermittently receive a "page not found".

We are working aggressively on fixing the problem now but don't have an estimated time that the problem will be fixed at this point.

Looks like they fixed it.

7 hours does not make them a bad provider. If that was theor ONLY outage in 12 months, they would still have achieved a 99.9% uptime.
