Subscription Software - Recommendations?

Looking to start a membership-based site

I am looking for a good subscription software to start a members-only website. I want a software with one time license payment, and not anything like monthly payment.

Your best bet is to hit the script archives and start trying some.

(we try to stay away from specific software recommendations here as it always leads to some author trying to recommend theirs, or someone trashing a competitor...)
